An image check that keeps the caveats in view

AI Image Detector: Is this image AI?

Drop in an image and we will give you a straight read: likely AI-made, likely real, or too close to call. You will also see what made the answer less certain.

A useful answer, with the caveats included.

An image detector can be a good place to start. It cannot settle every question, so we show the reasons behind the result instead of hiding them behind a score.

01 / UPLOAD

Pick the best copy you have

An original file usually tells us more. You can still use a screenshot, but we will flag the trade-off.

02 / CHECK

We look for a few practical clues

The check uses pixel patterns, image quality, and any readable metadata. It does not pretend these clues are conclusive.

03 / READ

Put the result in context

Use the result alongside the source, caption, and history of the image. That matters as much as the detector.

What goes into a result

We keep the explanation short. You should be able to see the useful clues and the gaps without wading through a fake forensic report.

  • What the pixels suggest
The detector looks for patterns associated with AI-generated images. That is a clue, not a verdict on its own.
  • What the file can tell us
Metadata may add context. A missing metadata record often just means the image was edited, screenshotted, or reposted.
  • What makes the check harder
Low resolution, compression, cropping, and screenshots can all make a result less dependable.

Questions people ask

Knowing where the tool falls short makes it easier to use well.

Can this tell me for sure?+

No. It gives you a probability-based read, not proof of who made an image or where it came from. For anything important, check the source as well.

Where does my image go?+

We process a standard upload to run the check, then do not keep the original file. We do not use standard uploads to train a model.

Why did the tool say Uncertain?+

Some files do not give a detector much to work with. Screenshots, heavy compression, low resolution, edits, and digital artwork can all make the answer less reliable.

What can I upload?+

JPG, PNG, and WebP files up to 8 MB. If you have the original file, use that instead of a screenshot.
